About Me

My name is Troels Jakobsen, I am 34 years old. I graduated in 1997 from the Aarhus School of Business, Denmark (Handelshøjskolen i Århus), where I received a master's degree in information science (cand.merc.-dat).

I work as a system developer (or programmer, as we system developers like to call it) at CSC Denmark (part of CSC). I have experience with Delphi, Visual Basic, Java, C#, SQL, HTML, and web scripting.

I don't know what it is about the web that makes people want to publish all kinds of inane drivel about their private lives and their hobbies and links to their friends's web pages. Does the web generate some kind of virtual exhibitionism, tantalizing people into publishing pictures of their dog, or making them feel it is necessary they tell everyone about the technical specifications of their computer? Or is it just that when there are no editors to intercept the crap it flows in abundance?

Hell, I don't know, but whatever the reason I'll be sure to make my contribution. Here are some trivialities for you to absorb. They are utterly unimportant and of no real practical value, even to me, but it seems to be customary to reveal useless details about yourself on a home page, so here goes.

I detest small hysterical dogs (doesn't everybody? Well, their owners apparently don't); I find reality shows to be abysmal crap and a full-scale assault on good taste (how much "reality" does a reality show hold anyway?); and I hate Dwight Yoakam country music (well, let's be honest, all kinds of country music. Some kinds more than others, but I basically hate'm all). And just to top it off: I don't like Star Trek. Yes, I am male, and I work with computers, but never the less I'm not into Star Trek. Go figure.

On the positive side, I don't have a job where I work with people. I'm a programmer - we don't work with people, we produce code. On the good days, at least.
