ActiveX BookmarkletsIt is possible to instantiate ActiveX objects (such as MS-Office applications) through Javascript. These bookmarklets do just that. They only work in Internet Explorer for Windows, and I wrote them mostly for experimental purposes, but maybe you can find some use for them anyway. Note that ActiveX objects are not considered to be safe for scripting. This means that the IE security setting "Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe" must be set to "Enable" or "Prompt"; otherwise the ActiveX object cannot be created. Since this is an important security setting I recommend you use "Prompt", or you only use the bookmarklets on pages that have been added to your trusted sites. If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't use these bookmarklets. Alternatively, only use the bookmarklets on sites belonging to the "Trusted Sites" domain. To use a bookmarklet, simply click the link (or, if you use Explorer, drag it to another browser window). To save the bookmarklet, add it to your favorites/bookmarks or drag the link to your desktop. If you use Explorer or Opera you can import all the bookmarklets in one easy operation.
